From the 6th to the 8th of september the Norwegian Championship in Underwater Photography was held in Ålesund by Ålesund Sportsdykkerklubb and the diving was performed in the beautiful Skodjestraumen.
This year I was trying to defend the third place I got last year, but I had no expectations of doing as good as I did. I won both the category wide angle with diver and fish portrait, I also got third in wide angle without diver and macro. In the theme category which this year was "Over under" i got a sixth place.
The rules competition this year was as last year, we had 4 dives over 2 days and we where not allowed to process the images after they were taken, either in the camera or on a computer. The only thing we were allowed to was to say which way the image should be rotated so that it appeared like we had taken it.
Our hosts had planned some nice dive sites for us, but due to bad weather (strong wind and big waves) the locations where changed to the beautiful Skodjestraumen, not a bad choise. Due to this we only had three dives as we could only dive here on high or low tide.
The conditions were pretty good even though the sun was mostly absent, but all in all it was a great weekend both socialy and competition wise.
There were a total of 10 participants and I ended up on 2rd place with 311 points. Vidar Skålevik won with 340 points and was named the Norwegian champion for the third time.
